Where the Anti-Breakage Hat came from

BOLLIDE was founded by Naveed and Alissa Morabito. Ali is a fine artist known for her single-line drawings, which have been exhibited internationally. Before she was Naveed's wife, she pulled away from him because hair loss from breakage and traction damage had eroded her confidence in ways she could not articulate at the time. She stopped wanting to be seen.

Naveed showed up at her door with a baseball cap he had modified himself — taking silk from a pillowcase and hand-sewing it into the interior of the hat. He had read about the friction differential between silk and cotton, understood the mechanism, and built a proof of concept with what he had. It was not elegant. It worked. Ali wore it. Her hair was better for it.

Two years of refinement followed — material sourcing, manufacturing development, certification, and repeated iteration on the specifications that would make a silk-lined hat a durable, functional, everyday product rather than a handmade prototype. The hat that became the Anti-Breakage Hat was developed together. The marriage followed. BOLLIDE is the formalization of both.

The entire interior of the Anti-Breakage Hat — crown, panels, sides, and sweatband — is 6A grade mulberry silk woven at 22-momme. 6A is the highest commercially available grade, indicating silk from verified Bombyx mori cultivation with consistent filament length and uniformity. 22-momme is the weight at which silk provides both the protective friction and moisture properties relevant for daily hair contact and the durability to maintain those properties through regular washing and wear. Medical-grade silver ions — infused into the fiber

Medical-grade silver ions are infused into the silk fiber structure at the manufacturing stage — not applied to the surface as a coating. Surface antimicrobial treatments degrade within weeks under regular washing. Fiber-level infusion maintains 99.9% elimination of odor-causing bacteria and fungi through the life of the hat.
