Martha’s Postpartum Hair Story: Protect the Comeback

MARTHA'S POSTPARTUM HAIR STORY

She put on a hat to stop thinking about her postpartum hair. Then she turned it over.

Martha was already taking the prenatal, using the serum and sleeping on silk. The one thing she had never checked was touching her hairline every rushed morning.

MARTHA'S POSTPARTUM STORY · VISUAL RECREATION

“I know it is supposed to be temporary.
It is still scary.”

MARTHA · POSTPARTUM MOTHER

THE PART SHE COULD NOT GOOGLE AWAY

There was hair everywhere. And a row of short pieces she could not explain.

She knew postpartum shedding was supposed to be temporary. Knowing that did not make the shower drain easier to look at.

Martha kept taking the prenatal. Bought the serum. Changed the shampoo. Slept on silk. At some point, caring for her hair had become one more job she could fall behind on.

On the morning she had twelve minutes to get everyone out the door, she did what she always did when there was no time to make her hair feel like hers: she put on the same old cotton-lined hat.

It covered the short hairs. It did not answer the question she kept asking when she saw them: was this regrowth, breakage—or both?

She was not looking for another miracle. She wanted to stop making the grow-out harder while she waited.

Martha pauses with a hairbrush during an exhausting postpartum morning

ONE USEFUL DISTINCTION

The hair in the shower and the short hairs at her temples were not the same problem.

FROM THE ROOT

Postpartum shedding

Falling estrogen after birth can cause temporary excessive shedding. The American Academy of Dermatology says it often peaks around four months after delivery.

ALONG THE STRAND

Everyday breakage

Hair can also snap along its length. Short, wispy hairs around the hairline are especially delicate, and repeated rubbing or pulling can be hard on them.

This is the part a hat cannot fix: the hormonal shed.

But it can change what rubs against the hair that remains—and the short hairs coming back.

Read the AAD guidance on postpartum shedding

THE THING SHE HAD NEVER CHECKED

She turned the hat over.

The part she chose for style was on the outside. The part touching her hair all day was on the inside—and she had never paid attention to it.

Turn over the hat you reach for. Feel the band that sits on your temples. Run a finger across the crown. Those are the surfaces your hair actually meets.

The question was not whether a hat could regrow hair. It could not. The question was whether the hat she wore to make life easier also had to rub against the hairline she was waiting to see fill in.

MARTHA LOOKING AT THE HAT SHE USED TO REACH FOR

The hat was hiding the short hairs.

Nobody had asked what it was doing to them.

WHY THE INSIDE MATTERS

The silk is not just tucked into the crown. It covers the band touching the temples, too.

BOLLIDE uses brand-stated 22-momme, Grade 6A mulberry silk across the full crown and sweatband—the surfaces hair actually meets. Outside, weather-resistant technical suede makes it look like a hat you would choose even if your hair were not the reason.

  • 22-momme silkacross the full contact surface
  • Silk-covered sweatbandwhere the hat meets short temple hairs
  • Adjustable 55–59 cm fitwith a leather back strap
  • OEKO-TEX® certified silkwith a silk-lined storage bag

This is not a treatment for postpartum shedding and does not make hair grow faster. Its job is to help protect delicate hair from avoidable hat-related friction.

THE BOLLIDE LOVE STORY
“So I cut up a silk pillowcase and lined her favorite baseball hat with it.”

BEFORE IT WAS A BUSINESS

It started with a silk pillowcase and one hat.

Before BOLLIDE was a business, it was a husband trying to make one familiar thing easier for the woman he loved. Stress-related shedding had left her feeling exposed. She still wanted to put on a baseball hat and leave the house.

So he cut up a silk pillowcase and sewed it into the hat she already reached for.

That first version was homemade. The idea behind it was not that a hat could treat shedding. It was simpler: if this was the thing she already wore on hard hair days, why should the inside work against her?

They could not find a version polished enough for everywhere she wanted to go, so they made one.

YES, IT IS A $350 HAT

A $350 hat only makes sense if it replaces the one you keep reaching for.

Martha was not looking for one more bottle on the bathroom counter. She wanted a better version of something already built into her week.

This is for the woman who reaches for a hat several times a week, already spends on her hair and wants one polished option she can keep wearing long after the postpartum grow-out. The same smooth interior remains useful for styled, textured, color-treated or simply breakage-prone hair later on.

BEFORE YOU SPEND $350

The questions worth asking.

Will this stop postpartum shedding?

No. Postpartum shedding is tied to the hair-growth cycle after pregnancy. This hat changes the surface touching your hair; it does not change hormones or create follicles.

Then how does it help with the grow-out?

New length needs to stay intact before it looks like length. A smooth silk crown and sweatband help reduce rubbing and snagging around short, delicate hairs as they grow.

Why not buy a cheaper satin-lined hat?

You can. Compare the actual material, the sweatband coverage, the fit and the exterior you will really wear. BOLLIDE’s case is full 22-momme mulberry-silk coverage, including the band at the hairline, in a premium everyday hat.

What if the fit is wrong?

The adjustable range is 55–59 cm. BOLLIDE currently lists a 30-day return request window, while the detailed policy requires the item to be in the same condition as received. Read the current terms before wearing it outside.

When should I talk to a doctor?

If hair loss is patchy, painful or scaly, comes with other symptoms, or is not improving around your baby’s first birthday, speak with a dermatologist or healthcare professional.

MARTHA KEPT THE EASY PART

She kept the grab-and-go habit.
She changed the part touching her hair.

The shedding still needed time. Protecting the short hairs coming back did not need another serum, pill or step.
